Indie films, with their often intimate narratives and unique perspectives, have carved a niche in the global film industry.

In a thrilling turn of events, local business owner, Eddie Niravong, has joined the executive producer team for the highly anticipated film trilogy, Echo 8. Niravong’s extensive background in running one of Sydney’s longest-standing Thai grocery stores, Asian Imperial Centre — Chang Market, has made it a one-stop-shop for local and international produce in Cabramatta for nearly 40 years. Additionally, he is the owner of Zaap By Chang, Sydney’s leading Thai restaurant.

Despite his busy schedule as a business owner and family man, Niravong has also pursued his passion for acting. He has appeared on ABC TV’s Les Norton and continues to try to fit in acting roles whenever possible.

“It’s really exciting to be in a movie in my local area that will be distributed on a major platform,” Niravong said.

Echo 8 is a groundbreaking trilogy that promises to captivate audiences with its compelling narrative and talented cast. Niravong’s addition to the team further strengthens the project’s potential for success.

As a local business owner, Niravong understands the importance of supporting the community. His involvement in Echo 8 is a demonstration of his commitment to fostering creativity and economic growth in the Western Sydney area and amongst diasporic storytelling.

Elizabeth H. Vu, who penned the fictional movie character of serial entrepreneur Michelangelo Charoensuk, believes that Michelangelo will be a relatable character for the community. Maria agrees, adding that serial entrepreneurs are everywhere and it would be fun to see the character in the next installment of Echo 8 Beyond, which is now an action comedy.

The Echo 8 Trilogy production team is incredibly proud to have integrated numerous local stories, businesses, and products into this film. It will be a moment of celebration when the film premieres and is distributed, showcasing how this cost-effective approach to marketing can benefit the local economy.

Their ongoing marketing strategy goes beyond traditional one-off ads and promo videos, which often come across as superficial. By leveraging the unique storytelling power of filmmaking, they are offering a distinctive promotional opportunity. Currently, this trilogy stands as the only one of its kind in Western Sydney, making it a true standout.

The team acknowledges and sympathizes with the businesses that were apprehensive about participating in this project, as they will unfortunately miss out on this rare opportunity to be part of something truly special.
